HONORING Madison Anderson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2025 Citizenship
Advancement Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people, within this great Empire State, who
have made strong contributions to their communities and serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Madison Anderson, upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2025 Citizenship Advancement Award, to be recognized at a senior
scholarship ceremony at General Douglas MacArthur High School on
Thursday, June 12, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Madison Anderson, committed to hard work, has achieved
excellence in academics, community service, and extracurricular
endeavors, justly earning this esteemed recognition; and

WHEREAS, A senior at General Douglas MacArthur High School, Madison
Anderson is a remarkable young woman whose high school experience has
been defined by her growth, leadership, and unwavering commitment to
making a difference; and

WHEREAS, Madison Anderson is a dynamic, kind, and truly inspiring
young woman; she has the inner drive and motivation to continually set
and achieve goals while inspiring and edifying those around her; she was
selected to serve as Student Advisor to the Superintendent, is a varsity
athlete, and has excelled in Advanced Placement courses; and

WHEREAS, When she was ten years old, Madison Anderson was diagnosed
with Tourette's syndrome; she has been able to manage her symptoms quite
well, and it is not something you would notice when speaking with her;
and

WHEREAS, Madison Anderson's diagnosis at a young age and the
neurological concerns that her family faced when she was young are
certainly an important part of her story; she is the first person to say
that while she has had to overcome the challenges associated with this
neurological disorder, it most certainly has not defined her or stopped
her from achieving amazing things; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
respected scholar and distinguished member of her community now stands
honorably with just pride in her accomplishments and in eager
anticipation of all her future endeavors and limitless opportunities;
and

WHEREAS, It is of utmost importance to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; now,
therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Madison Anderson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2025 Citizenship Advancement Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Madison Anderson.
