HONORING Dr. Jocelynne Rainey upon the occasion of
receiving the 2025 Brooklyn Children's Museum
Champion Award on June 12, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
celebrate those individuals whose professional excellence, civic
dedication, and commitment to equity have had a profound and lasting
impact on their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
proud traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Jocelynne Rainey upon the occasion of her receiving the 2025 Brooklyn
Children's Museum Champion Award, to be presented on Thursday, June 12,
2025; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jocelynne Rainey serves as the President and CEO of the
Brooklyn Community Foundation, where she has led transformative
investments in community-led philanthropy and racial justice initiatives
across the borough; and
WHEREAS, With a distinguished career spanning leadership roles in
education, workforce development, and nonprofit management, Dr.
Jocelynne Rainey has worked tirelessly to dismantle barriers to
opportunity and to advance equity and empowerment for underserved
communities; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Brooklyn Community Foundation, Dr.
Jocelynne Rainey served as President and CEO of Getting Out and Staying
Out (GOSO) and held senior leadership positions at Brooklyn Navy Yard
Development Corporation, where she directed workforce development
strategies connecting New Yorkers to meaningful employment; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jocelynne Rainey holds a Doctorate in Executive
Leadership from St. John Fisher University, a Master's of Science in
Administration from Metropolitan College of New York, and a Bachelor's
of Science in Business from Indiana University, and she has been a
consistent advocate for education, leadership development, and
institutional accountability; and
WHEREAS, Her exceptional leadership and dedication to justice,
inclusion, and public service exemplify the very spirit of the BCM
Champion Award, recognizing individuals who uplift children, families,
and communities through bold, visionary action; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Jocelynne Rainey upon the occasion of her receiving the 2025
Brooklyn Children's Museum Champion Award, and to extend sincere
gratitude for her contributions to Brooklyn and the State of New York;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Jocelynne Rainey as a symbol of the high esteem in
which she is held by the New York State Senate.
