COMMEMORATING the Annual Children's Festival Youth
Pan Fest hosted by the Carlos Lezama Archives and
Caribbean Cultural Center on August 23, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
celebrate cultural institutions and events that uplift youth, promote
education through the arts, and preserve the vibrant heritage of the
Caribbean-American community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to commemorate the Annual
Children's Festival Youth Pan Fest, hosted by the Carlos Lezama Archives
and Caribbean Cultural Center, to be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025;
and
WHEREAS, Founded in honor of the late Carlos Lezama, a pioneering
figure in Caribbean cultural advocacy, CLACC-C remains a leading
institution in the celebration and preservation of Caribbean traditions,
particularly through the power of music, performance, and community
engagement; and
WHEREAS, The Youth Pan Fest is a central component of the Center's
annual Children's Festival, dedicated to engaging and inspiring the next
generation through the rich tradition of steelpan music, while fostering
creativity, discipline, and cultural pride; and
WHEREAS, This dynamic festival serves as a platform for young
musicians to showcase their talents, build confidence, and learn the
historical and cultural significance of steelpan-an iconic Caribbean art
form that continues to thrive in the diaspora; and
WHEREAS, In addition to its musical programming, the Children's
Festival includes activities, performances, and educational
opportunities that empower youth and families to connect with their
cultural roots and one another in an atmosphere of joy and unity; and
WHEREAS, The Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Center
continues to be a vital resource for the preservation and celebration of
Caribbean-American identity, and events like the Youth Pan Fest ensure
this legacy endures for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Annual Children's Festival Youth Pan Fest, to be held on
August 23, 2025, and to honor the Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean
Cultural Center for its enduring contributions to youth empowerment,
artistic excellence, and cultural heritage; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Center
in recognition of this meaningful celebration.
