MOURNING the death of Thomas Dinkler,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, died on
Monday, May 19, 2025 at the age of 79; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler, known as "Tex" to his friends and family,
was born in Lackawanna, New York to Philip and Muriel Dinkler; and

WHEREAS, First attending school in Brooklyn, New York, Thomas
Dinkler's educational journey would take him to Croton-on-Hudson, where
he attended Holy Name of Mary School, and later, St. Agnes High School
in New York City; after finishing high school, he furthered his
education at Westchester Community College where he earned his
associate's degree; and

WHEREAS, After earning his degree, Thomas Dinkler served in the
United States Army for two years; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler married his wife of 49 years, Audrey
Hessler, on May 14, 1976, and together they lovingly raised two sons,
Philip and Russell; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, Employed by Con Edison as a computer repair person until he
retired in 2000 after 35 years of service, Thomas Dinkler diligently
used his skills and experience to help bring power to thousands of New
Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, An active member of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department,
where he was loved and admired by all, Thomas Dinkler served as Chief of
the Department from 1996-2001; he also served as Deputy Chief,
Secretary, Chairperson of Fire Fair and the Donation Fund; Thomas
Dinkler was also an active member of the American Legion of Croton; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Dinkler is survived by his wife, Audrey; his sons,
Phil and Russell; and his four grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Emma and Owen;
he was predeceased by his parents, Muriel and Philip; his aunts, Anna
and Catherine; and his uncle, Ferd; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Thomas Dinkler leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Thomas Dinkler, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Thomas Dinkler.
