CONGRATULATING the Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski
Team upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA
Alpine Ski Championship on February 11, 2025

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team upon the occasion of capturing the
NYSPHSAA Alpine Ski Championship on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, held at
Gore Mountain in North Creek, New York; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team captured its third state title in
four years, which speaks to the consistency of excellence in their
program; and

WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team
throughout their journey as the team finished with 77 points, along with
Section 1's Mamaroneck and Section IV's Windham for their share of the
state title; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these scholar-athletes is
due, in great part, to the efforts of a great team of coaches and
skilled and inspirational tutors who are respected for their ability to
develop potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as skiing, which demands athletic prowess,
speed, and agility, Head Coach Rich Burnley has worked hard to hone the
skills of this championship alpine ski team, teaching these outstanding
athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the slopes;
and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Rich Burnley and all of the outstanding athletes
on the Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination, and resilience in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team;
Sarah MacFarlane, Taylor Rose, and Marissa Bach; Head Coach Rich
Burnley; and Assistant Coach Matt Moran upon the occasion of capturing

the NYSPHSAA Alpine Ski Championship on February 11, 2025; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Shenendehowa Girls Alpine Ski Team,
Head Coach Rich Burnley, Assistant Coach Matt Moran, Athletic Director
Lucas LaBarre, Principal Ron Agostinoni, and School Superintendent Dr.
L. Oliver Robinson.
