HONORING Investigator Matt Gacek upon the occasion
of his retirement after 20 years of dedicated
service to the field of law enforcement

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Investigator
Matt Gacek upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years of
dedicated service to the field of law enforcement on Saturday, April 26,
2025; and

WHEREAS, Matt Gacek began his career in law enforcement in 2004 with
the Village of Boonville and later at Vernon and Sherrill Police
Departments in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Investigator Matt Gacek joined the Oneida Police Department
in August of 2006, and always rendered faithful, conscientious, and
selfless service throughout his tenure; and

WHEREAS, In 2018, for his unrelenting dedication to public service,
Investigator Matt Gacek earned the prestigious Officer of the Year
Award; and

WHEREAS, With a deep commitment to serving his community,
Investigator Matt Gacek was a member of the Board of Directors for
BRiDGES and was appointed to the Madison County Community Services
Board, holding this position pridefully from January 1, 2019, to
December 31, 2022; and

WHEREAS, In his official acts, Investigator Matt Gacek was governed
by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human
problems; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Oneida Police Department,
Investigator Matt Gacek earned the admiration, esteem and affection of
his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Investigator Matt Gacek upon the occasion of his retirement after
20 years of dedicated service to the field of law enforcement; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Investigator Matt Gacek.
