COMMENDING Sarah Brown upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the
highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New
York State Senate

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations to preserve the
lives of others; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sarah Brown upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, On Friday, March 21, 2025, Sarah Brown was leaving work and
driving to her daughter's daycare in Cheektowaga, a suburb of Buffalo,
when she saw a crashed vehicle on the side of the road; a 60-year-old
man experienced a medical emergency that caused him to crash,
overturning his car on its side; and

WHEREAS, The man was unresponsive and lying on the ground;
bystanders were screaming, asking if anyone knew CPR; while many others
drove past the accident, Sarah Brown did not; she is certified in CPR,
and hearing those calls, she jumped out of her car and into action; and

WHEREAS, After a few minutes of chest compressions, the man began to
breathe again; he was taken to the hospital where his condition was
stabilized; Sarah Brown's quick thinking and immediate, effective
response saved the victim's life; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Brown is a lifelong resident of Buffalo, New York,
and a devoted paraprofessional with the Buffalo Public School District;
known for her steady presence and compassionate nature, she plays a
vital role in supporting students and creating a positive learning
environment; and

WHEREAS, Outside of education, Sarah Brown is also a professional
fashion model; she brings confidence, poise, and creativity to the
runway and the camera, representing strength, beauty, and authenticity
in every shoot; and

WHEREAS, Exemplifying her courage and deep commitment to the
well-being of her community, Sarah Brown continues to serve with
purpose, uplifting students, inspiring others through fashion, and
walking boldly in her faith which is at the heart of everything she

does; it guides her actions, fuels her compassion, and inspires her to
be a source of light and encouragement to those around her; and

WHEREAS, Due to Sarah Brown's noble and courageous actions, a
precious life was saved, and a seemingly dire situation had positive
results; this humble hero's intervention is a reminder of the profound
impact which kindness and preparedness can have in our communities; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Brown, in her spontaneous and heroic act, has so
aptly demonstrated her character and compassion for the welfare of
others, personifying, by virtue of her action, the collective concern of
ordinary citizens across the community of New York State who voluntarily
respond without thought of danger or reward when others need help; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sarah Brown upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sarah Brown.
