CONGRATULATING Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., upon the
occasion of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his
Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., upon the occasion of celebrating the 25th
Anniversary of his Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate, to be
celebrated at an Anniversary Mass at St. Paul's Church in Rome, New
York, on Sunday, June 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Edgar Doyle, Jr., was born and educated in Rome, New York;
he has a background and degree in electrical engineering from the
University of Dayton where he met his wife, Marty; the couple have been
married for 63 years, blessed with six children and several
grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Edgar Doyle, Jr., worked at the Rome Laboratory (Rome Air
Development Center until 1991), a United States Air Force research
laboratory, for 40 years; from 1996-2007, he served as Faith Formation
Director at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Rome; and

WHEREAS, On May 27, 2000, Edgar Doyle, Jr., was ordained to the
Permanent Diaconate in Syracuse; and

WHEREAS, At St. Paul's Catholic Church, in his capacity as Deacon,
Edgar Doyle, Jr., has assisted and preached at weekend masses and
coordinated the altar server recruitment, training, and scheduling; he
is the Director of Religious Education, and he has served as Music
Director and guitarist at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, also in
Rome, for 10 years and at St. Paul's Catholic Church for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., has assisted in the
Parish Council and the Finance Committee; he has also participated in
the Marriage Encounter, the Cursillo Weekend, and support groups; he is
the Catholic Chaplain for the Oneida County Correctional Facility in
Oriskany where he conducts a weekly prayer service; and

WHEREAS, Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment while conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
always displaying the highest standards of personal and professional
integrity and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., has always given guidance and
wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has ministered abundantly
and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr., upon the occasion of celebrating
the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate,
noting his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service
to God, man, and his community, and extending to him the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Deacon Edgar Doyle, Jr.
