CONGRATULATING the Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the
Mind Team upon the occasion of placing first in
Problem 3, Division III at the New York State
Odyssey of the Mind Championship Tournament on April
5, 2025

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, The Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind Team had an
extraordinary showing at the New York State Finals held in Syracuse, New
York, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, exemplifying teamwork, ingenuity, and
perseverance; and

WHEREAS, Composed of students in grades 10 through 12, the Hoosic
Valley Odyssey of the Mind Team first competed in the Region 4
Championship Tournament, where they were awarded the Renatra Fusca
Award, which is bestowed in recognition of outstanding creativity-an
honor that speaks to the exceptional originality and innovation
demonstrated by these remarkable students; and

Whereas, In April, the Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind Team earned
First Place in Problem 3, Division III, distinguishing themselves as the
top team in the State of New York in their division for the second
consecutive year; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable victory earned the team a well-deserved
invitation to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at
Michigan State University, where they proudly represented both Hoosic
Valley and the State of New York on the international stage, achieving
an impressive Fourth Place finish among the best teams from across the
globe; and

WHEREAS, The members of this talented and accomplished team include
Isabella Schmidt, Evan Antolick, Anna Grace Macica, Sophia Wilson, Julia
Mastromarchi, and Amelia Stannard, who, under the skilled guidance and
mentorship of their coach, Kyle Schmidt, have demonstrated exceptional
dedication, collaborative spirit, and creative problem-solving
abilities; and

WHEREAS, The achievements of the Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind
Team bring great pride to their school, their families, and their entire
community, and reflect the highest ideals of academic excellence and
extracurricular engagement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind Team upon the
occasion of placing first in Problem 3, Division III at the New York
State Odyssey of the Mind Championship Tournament, and to commend them
for their outstanding accomplishments, creativity, and spirit; and be it
further


RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind Team
and Coach Kyle Schmidt.
