Senate Resolution No. 1149

RECOGNIZING Tea Cotronis for her exceptional
service to her community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and
its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize Tea Cotronis for her exceptional service to her community, to
celebrated upon the occasion of her graduation from Schreiber High
School in Port Washington, New York on Thursday, June 26, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Tea Cotronis began her work with Kyra's Champions-a not for
profit organization focused on stopping child abuse and child murder
through policy change-in junior high school; and
WHEREAS, The countless hours Tea Cotronis has spent volunteering
with the organization have been meaningful and inspiring; in association
with Kyra's Champions, Tea Cotronis has led rallies and advocacy events
across New York State; kicked off a key Albany press conference in the
Capitol building in support of Kyra's Law; was featured on PIX11, News
12, and local press; co-chaired community actions and took on leading
public speaking roles; and authored an influential op-ed on protecting
children from abusive parents; and
WHEREAS, Tea Cotronis, a passionate voice for protecting vulnerable
children, worked hard in recruiting and inspiring peers to join the
Kyra's Champions movement statewide, and has been recognized as a
standout Youth Ambassador for Kyra's Champions Student Advocacy Program;
and
WHEREAS, Within every community, there are inevitably some
individuals who, by virtue of their energy, vision, and dedication,
command the greatest respect among their peers, colleagues, and
community at large; Tea Cotronis is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character who have shown unwavering
initiative and commitment toward supporting and uplifting members of
their community, acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by
their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Tea Cotronis for her exceptional service to her community; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tea Cotronis.
