COMMEMORATING the 10th Anniversary of the Annual
E.R.I.C. Initiative Remembrance Gala to be held on
September 13, 2025

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend significant events that promote justice, remembrance, and
healing, while uniting communities through shared purpose and advocacy;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to commemorate
10th Anniversary of the Annual E.R.I.C. Initiative Remembrance Gala to
be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Established to honor the memory of Eric Garner and to
catalyze meaningful change, the E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation has, over
the past decade, become a beacon of hope, awareness, and advocacy,
promoting dialogue around police accountability, community empowerment,
and systemic reform; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Remembrance Gala serves as a solemn tribute to
Eric Garner's life and legacy, reaffirming a collective commitment to
equality, justice, and compassion in the face of adversity; and

WHEREAS, The 2025 Gala will be hosted by Gwen Carr, mother of Eric
Garner, whose tireless advocacy has transformed personal loss into
national mobilization for justice and reform. Her voice continues to
elevate the conversation around racial equity and law enforcement
accountability; and

WHEREAS, Through this event, the E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation
fosters unity and remembrance while inspiring ongoing efforts to build a
society rooted in fairness, dignity, and mutual respect; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting that this Legislative Body recognizes the
work of the E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation and commemorates the 10th
Anniversary Gala as an occasion of profound meaning and civic
importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Annual E.R.I.C. Initiative
Remembrance Gala, and to extend its deep respect to Gwen Carr and all
those who continue to uplift Eric Garner's legacy through service and
advocacy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation in recognition of this
momentous occasion.
