MOURNING the death of Nancy Lieberman,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to mourn
the death of Nancy Lieberman, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of her community; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Lieberman died on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of
78; and

WHEREAS, On January 16, 1947, Nancy Lieberman was born in
Evansville, Indiana, and grew up in Indiana and Ohio, spending summers
with her family at a lake house in Minnesota; and

WHEREAS, A true country girl, Nancy Lieberman loved the outdoors;
she was a Girl Scout Leader, Outward Bound participant, and avid sailor;
and

WHEREAS, Nancy Lieberman graduated from Oberlin College and built a
career in financial services, specializing in estate and retirement
planning; and

WHEREAS, In 1980, Nancy Lieberman met her husband, Mark; they
married in 1982, and in 1990, the couple welcomed their daughter,
Carolyn, who is now a music therapist who seemingly inherited her
mother's musical talents; and

WHEREAS, For many years, Nancy Lieberman directed choirs, including
the Golden Apple Chorus and the Universalist Unitarian Church choir in
White Plains; and

WHEREAS, After moving to Belgium and then Yorktown, Nancy Lieberman
was a cancer survivor for 25 years; a faith-filled, loving, and
passionate woman, she lived a life that was a testament to the power of
love, dedication, and resilience, leaving a legacy of love and service
which will continue to inspire those who knew her; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Lieberman was the kind of person who made friends
with everyone she met; kind, caring, energetic, and smart, she treated
everyone as a best friend and always spoke with honesty and warmth; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Lieberman distinguished herself in her profession and
by her dedication and contribution to the welfare of her community,
State, and Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated individuals who devote their lives to the betterment of their
communities are worthy and due praise for their commitment and
endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Nancy Lieberman leaves a legacy which will endure the
passage of time and remain a memory to all she served and befriended;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Nancy Lieberman, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Nancy Lieberman.
