MOURNING the death of Salvatore Colatruglio,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Colatruglio of Mahopac, New York, died on
September 16, 2025 at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, Born in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy on December 12,
1936, Salvatore Colatruglio was the son of Fiorigio and Maria Addolorata
(Agostinelli) Colatruglio; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Colatruglio came to the United States in 1954,
settling in The Bronx, New York before moving to Mahopac in the early
1970's; and

WHEREAS, On August 22, 1964, Salvatore Colatruglio married the love
of his life, Carmela Alosco at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in
The Bronx; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Colatruglio distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Owner of Colatruglio Construction, Salvatore Colatruglio
specialized his trade as a bricklayer; he also worked as a school bus
driver and a maintenance worker in the Mahopac Central School District;
and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Colatruglio's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Committed to serving his community, Salvatore Colatruglio
was a life member of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department where he took
on many roles, including that of Department Quartermaster; he was also a
member of the Putnam County Fire Police Association and the Putnam
County Volunteer Firemen's Association; and

WHEREAS, Embracing a strong connection to his heritage, Salvatore
Colatruglio was a member of the Italian American Clubs of both Mahopac,
where he had been honored as an Honorary Grand Marshall of the Columbus
Day Parade, and Seaside Park, New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Colatruglio is predeceased by his wife Carmela,
who passed away on July 12, 2020, and is survived by his son, Joseph and
his wife, Amy; his daughter, Maria Hughes and her husband, Colin; his
four beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph Jr., Sydney and Riley; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Salvatore Colatruglio leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Salvatore Colatruglio, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Salvatore Colatruglio.
