MOURNING the death of Charles "Chucky" Bernard
McGuire, distinguished citizen, firefighter,
veteran, and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Charles "Chucky" Bernard McGuire of Montrose, New York,
died on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 76; and

WHEREAS, Born to Marion and William McGuire on June 9, 1949, Charles
B. McGuire graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School and achieved
honor roll in the studies of heating and ventilation; and

WHEREAS, After completing high school, Charles B. McGuire began
working with the United Engineers at Indian Point until he enlisted to
serve in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Charles B. McGuire distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a strong sense of duty, Charles B. McGuire
served in the Vietnam War from 1969-1972 as an SP5 in the 36th
Engineering Construction Battalion; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service in the Vietnam War, Charles B.
McGuire received several decorations and medals, including the Vietnam
Service Medal Sharpshooter M-16, two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Campaign
Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, After returning from Vietnam, Charles B. McGuire married
his high school sweetheart Gale (Altman) McGuire, and together they
raised their family for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, One of Charles B. McGuire's greatest legacies is his spirit
of service and dedication to the Cortlandt Engine Company and the
Montrose Fire Department where he proudly served as a volunteer for 54
years; and

WHEREAS, Charles B. McGuire's commitment to his community inspired
him to work tirelessly to ensure his area was safe and protected; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure at the fire department, Charles B.
McGuire served on the Board of Governors and was an active trainer and
mentor to new members; and

WHEREAS, While Charles B. McGuire was committed to all aspects of
firefighting, his true passion was caring for Engine 122, and oftentimes
he spent Sunday mornings cleaning the engine and ensuring it was
prepared to respond to any calls; and


WHEREAS, In recognition of his fire service, Charles B. McGuire was
named Firefighter of the Year several times and won awards for most
calls attended to; and

WHEREAS, Charles B. McGuire's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Charles B. McGuire is survived by his three children, Tana
McGuire, Meranda McGuire, and Shaun McGuire; his grandchildren, Nicholas
Turner and Olivia O'Toole; his brothers, William McGuire, John McGuire,
and David Gordon (Debby); his sisters, Jane Maxwell (Randy) and Darlene
Carbone (Stephen); and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close
friends; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Charles B. McGuire leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Charles "Chucky" Bernard McGuire, distinguished
citizen, firefighter, veteran, and devoted member of his community; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Charles "Chucky" Bernard McGuire.
