Senate Resolution No. 1413

MOURNING the death of John W. Ferrini,
distinguished citizen, veteran, businessman, and
devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini of Briarcliff Manor, New York, and Juno
Beach, Florida, died on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 89;
and

WHEREAS, Born to the late Emelie and Leo Ferrini on October 8, 1939,
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John W. Ferrini moved to Burbank,
California, as a child and graduated from Burbank High School; and

WHEREAS, Shortly after graduating high school, John W. Ferrini
enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1957 to 1963 in the 82nd
Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a position he was very
proud of; and

WHEREAS, Following his honorable discharge, John W. Ferrini attended
California State University Northridge and used his degree to begin a
career in marketing with MLB Marketing in North Hollywood, California;
and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, In pursuit of "Fame and Fortune," a phrase he often used,
John W. Ferrini moved to New York City for a new job, and he later moved
to Westchester County, New York, to start his company, JF Direct; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini was a passionate, hardworking, and
dedicated businessman, and his efforts are reflected in the success of
his business, JF Direct; and

WHEREAS, Outside of his professional career, John W. Ferrini was an
avid golfer, and in 1977, his competitive nature led him to Sleepy
Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, New York, where he met lifelong
friends; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini's passion for golf resulted in friends
calling him the "Commissioner of Golf Central," as he was often
responsible for scheduling golf games for those he knew; and

WHEREAS, In 2020, John W. Ferrini found his second home in Juno
Beach, Florida, where the warm weather and beaches reminded him of his
childhood memories in California; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini was known to always wear a smile, and his
compassionate nature paired with his wonderful sense of humor will be
missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini is predeceased by his wife, Jan Ferrini;
and

WHEREAS, John W. Ferrini is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Mike)
Marriott; his brother, Leo (Leslie); his sister, Rose; his niece and
goddaughter, Kathy Shekter; three grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews; and his fiance and partner,
Mary Ellen Joy; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, John W. Ferrini leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of John W. Ferrini, distinguished citizen, veteran,
businessman, and devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of John W. Ferrini.
