MOURNING the death of Lois Reynolds, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds of Cross River, New York, died on Friday,
July 18, 2025, at the age of 106; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 31, 1919, to Edwin and Marion Reynolds, Lois
Reynolds was a quiet soul with a strong sense of adventure; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds resided in Cross River, New York, a town that
her ancestors founded and were known for forming the Cross River Baptist
Church in 1789; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds lived her life in the same family homestead
that she was raised in, and she often enjoyed sitting on the front porch
and watching the birds in the yard; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and

WHEREAS, Her sense of adventure led Lois Reynolds to a career with
the New York Central Railroad, and she proudly retired in 1984 after 42
years of service; and

WHEREAS, In her youth, Lois Reynolds was a girl scout leader, and
later in life she served as president of the Lewisboro Seniors and
treasurer of the Cross River Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Family members remember Lois Reynolds for the countless
stories she had gathered throughout her fulfilling life, including
stories of cross-country train rides and camping adventures with family;
and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds had a strong love of people and of life,
oftentimes spending time gardening and appreciating cars; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds' commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Lois Reynolds is survived by her niece, Carol Ann DeRose;
her nephews, Kenneth and Richard; and many grand- and great-grand-nieces
and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Lois Reynolds leaves behind a legacy which will long endure

the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Lois Reynolds, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Lois Reynolds.
