MOURNING the death of Maurice L. Baker,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Maurice L. Baker of New York State died on Tuesday, June
10, 2025, at the age of 96; and

WHEREAS, Maurice L. Baker distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Maurice L. Baker's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, A devoted father and grandfather, Maurice L. Baker lived a
life filled with loved ones, friends, and family; and

WHEREAS, Maurice L. Baker is preceded in death by his beloved wife,
Carrie Baker; and his siblings, Francis Martin, Alton Baker Jr., Phillip
Baker, Helen Ross, Willie Mae (Bena) Pope, Merion Anderson, Pauline,
Berlie Bee, and Ella; and

WHEREAS, Maurice L. Baker is survived by his son, Maurice Baker;
four daughters, April Robbins-Bobyn Barnes, Cheryl Baker, Oscola Walker,
and Linda Cleveland; 13 grandchildren, Maurice R. Baker, Autumn Robbins,
Summer Robbins, Bria Warner, Kayla Bobyn, Alyssa Bobyn, Elrea Walker,
Corey Walker, Laura Walker, Burrell Lane, Tracey Seible, Adrian DuPree,
and Iesha DuPree; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
and several nieces, cousins, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Maurice L. Baker leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Maurice L. Baker, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Maurice L. Baker.
