HONORING WBC Interim Silver Super Welterweight
Champion Jahyae Brown of Schenectady upon the
occasion of capturing and retaining his title and
his contributions to the Schenectady Community

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in competitive sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
proud traditions, this Legislative Body takes great pride in recognizing
individuals whose determination, talent, and commitment to excellence
serve as an inspiration to others across this State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Schenectady native Jahyae Brown upon the occasion of capturing the World
Boxing Council USA Silver Super Welterweight Interim Championship on
Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Oceanside Events Center/Wonderland
Ballroom in Revere, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, Headlining the Oceanside Superstars Quick Card, Jahyae
"Golden Child" Brown emerged victorious by unanimous decision-78-74,
79-73, and 80-72-claiming the interim championship belt; and

WHEREAS, In his first title defense, Jahyae Brown competed on the "
'Twas the Fight Before Christmas" card where he scored a victory by
technical knockout in the third round on December 13, 2025, at Royale
Nightclub in Boston, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, Utilizing technical skills, physical conditioning, ring IQ,
and personal discipline, with the clear goal of climbing the rankings
and securing higher-level fights, Jahyae Brown has compiled an
outstanding overall record of 19-2, with 13 knockouts; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Jahyae Brown is due in
great part to the efforts of Trainer Sam Bunch, the head trainer at Next
Bunch Boxing Gym, respected for his ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Jahyae Brown has remained deeply committed to giving back
to his community, frequently mentoring local youth, supporting youth
development programs, and using his platform to uplift and empower the
next generation of Schenectady's leaders; and

WHEREAS, Jahyae Brown began boxing in 2013, winning the New York
State Silver Gloves Tournament and the Regional Silver Gloves
Tournament, and in 2018, he accomplished his greatest amateur feat by
winning the highly sought-after Golden Gloves Championship; and

WHEREAS, Jahyae Brown's triumphs represent more than athletic
success; they symbolize the spirit of resilience, determination, and

hope for the City of Schenectady, inspiring youth and adults alike to
remain focused on their goals, believe in their potential, and commit to
hard work and discipline; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate WBC Interim Silver Super Welterweight Champion Jahyae Brown
of Schenectady upon the occasion of capturing and retaining his title
and his contributions to the Schenectady Community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jahyae Brown, Trainer Sam Bunch, and Promoter Matt Nolan.
