HONORING Janine McMahon upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Businesswoman Impact
Award in Leadership & Community Transformation by
Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals whose visionary leadership, community engagement,
and commitment to systemic equity have transformed lives, empowered
families, and strengthened the fabric of society; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to honor Janine
McMahon, founder and principal of JDM Global Leadership Coaching and
Consulting and vice president of operations at Caribbean Elite Magazine,
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Businesswoman
Impact Award in Leadership & Community Transformation by Young, Gifted,
& Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc., on Wednesday, February 25, 2026;
and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2006 by Carl Gray, the Young, Gifted, & Black
Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
recognizing distinguished individuals of color across the Americas, the
Caribbean, and Africa, celebrating "Unsung Heroes and Heroines" whose
leadership, resilience, and service have made a lasting impact across
business, healthcare, culture, and community development; and

WHEREAS, Janine McMahon has dedicated her career to community
leadership, systems change, and equity, providing coaching, consulting,
and mentorship to emerging leaders while supporting small businesses in
launching and sustaining successful ventures; and

WHEREAS, In her role as implementation and systems capacity manager
with the National Parent Leadership Institute (NPLI), Janine McMahon
co-leads initiatives that center parent and community voices in
decision-making processes, ensuring policies and systems strengthen
outcomes for children, families, and underserved communities; and

WHEREAS, As vice president of operations for Caribbean Elite
Magazine, Janine McMahon advances Caribbean culture globally, oversees
the execution of the Caribbean Music Awards, and supports industry
professionals in elevating their brands, blending entrepreneurship,
cultural advocacy, and operational leadership; and

WHEREAS, Janine McMahon's civic engagement and service include her
role as commissioner on the City of Hartford Parks and Recreation
Commission, board memberships with Hartford NEXT, the Asylum Hill
Neighborhood Association (board chair), and participation on multiple
advisory councils and initiatives advancing family economic mobility and
systemic equity; and

WHEREAS, A nationally recognized speaker and advocate, Janine
McMahon has contributed to impactful programs including the Parent
Leadership Training Institute (PLTI), University of Connecticut People

Empowering People (PEP), and Community Organizing and Family Issues
(COFI), demonstrating a lifelong commitment to mentorship, leadership
development, and entrepreneurship; and

WHEREAS, Through her visionary leadership, dedication to community
transformation, and unwavering service, Janine McMahon has empowered
individuals, strengthened systems, and inspired generations to lead
boldly and dream expansively; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Janine McMahon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Businesswoman Impact Award in Leadership & Community
Transformation, and to commend her extraordinary contributions to
community empowerment, leadership development, and cultural advocacy;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Janine McMahon as an expression of the highest respect
and appreciation of this Legislative Body.
