HONORING Lorna E. McDonald upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Strategic Vision
Award in Patient Care & Healthcare Leadership by
Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals whose leadership, compassion, and professional
excellence have advanced patient-centered care and strengthened
healthcare delivery within their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full-accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lorna E. McDonald RN, BSN, upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Strategic Vision Award in Patient Care & Healthcare
Leadership by Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc., on
Wednesday, February 25, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2006 by Carl Gray, Young, Gifted, & Black
Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
recognizing distinguished individuals of color across the Americas, the
Caribbean, and Africa, celebrating "Unsung Heroes and Heroines" whose
leadership, service, and resilience have made a lasting impact across
business, healthcare, and community advancement; and

WHEREAS, Lorna E. McDonald is a highly respected registered nurse
whose career reflects decades of dedication to excellence in critical
care, nurse management, and private-duty nursing, grounded in
professionalism, clinical expertise, and deep compassion for patients
and families; and

WHEREAS, She spent most of her distinguished clinical career at New
York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she served in a
range of leadership and supervisory roles, including nurse manager and
emergency room supervisor, demonstrating calm leadership and sound
judgment in high-acuity environments; and

WHEREAS, Building upon this extensive hospital-based experience, Ms.
McDonald transitioned into private-duty nursing, bringing the same
rigor, discretion, and patient-centered philosophy to individualized
care delivered in home and private settings; and

WHEREAS, As the founder and Director of Patient Care at Cambridge
Home Care, she has established a trusted care model that prioritizes
dignity, safety, and continuity, ensuring that patients and families
receive high-quality, attentive, and personalized healthcare services;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Lorna E. McDonald has provided care
to a diverse clientele, including prominent families, public figures,
and business leaders from the United States and abroad, earning
consistent praise from both discerning clients and leading physicians
across New York City; and

WHEREAS, Lorna E. McDonald's approach to healthcare leadership is
guided by a deeply held belief that compassionate, high-quality home
care can meaningfully improve outcomes and quality of life for patients
and their loved ones, a philosophy that continues to shape her
professional legacy; and

WHEREAS, Through strategic vision, clinical excellence, and
unwavering commitment to patient advocacy, Lorna E. McDonald has
elevated standards of care and exemplified the highest ideals of nursing
leadership; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lorna E. McDonald upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Strategic Vision Award in Patient Care & Healthcare
Leadership by Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lorna E. McDonald as an expression of the highest respect
and appreciation of this Legislative Body.
