HONORING Marvin Smith upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Nina Simone Artistic
Excellence Disc Jockey of the Year Award by Young,
Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals whose creativity, technical mastery, and visionary
leadership have advanced the music industry, inspired audiences, and
amplified Black artistic and cultural excellence; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is proud
to honor Marvin "DJ Legend" Smith, acclaimed disc jockey, event
producer, and entertainment consultant, upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Nina Simone Artistic Excellence Disc
Jockey of the Year Award by the Young, Gifted, & Black Entrepreneurial
Awards, Inc., on Wednesday, February 25, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2006 by Carl Gray, Young, Gifted, & Black
Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
recognizing distinguished individuals of color across The Americas, the
Caribbean, and Africa, celebrating "Unsung Heroes and Heroines" whose
resilience, innovation, and leadership have made a lasting impact across
business, culture, media, and community development; and

WHEREAS, Based in New York City, DJ Legend is the Founder and CEO of
1StopCG, an entertainment consulting firm specializing in end-to-end
event production, marketing strategy, talent acquisition, venue
coordination, and financial oversight, where his work has elevated
events across major markets in the United States and internationally;
and

WHEREAS, Since 2015, Legend has served as Head DJ and Talent
Acquisition Lead for the Reggae Fest Tour, performing across North
America, Toronto, Jamaica, and London, while overseeing artist bookings,
tour logistics, DJ team leadership, and serving as lead host and Master
of Ceremonies, fostering audience engagement and loyalty; and

WHEREAS, Earlier in his career, Legend spent more than 17 years as
Lead DJ and M.C. for Tropical Blendz, headlining events across North
America and performing alongside internationally acclaimed artists,
including Stephen and Damian Marley, Burna Boy, Shaggy, Beenie Man,
Spice, Barrington Levy, Gyptian, and Wayne Wonder, solidifying his
reputation as a cultural tastemaker; and

WHEREAS, In addition to live performance, DJ Legend has contributed
to radio and media as a trusted voice, including appearances on 94.7 The
Block FM (NYC), Litt / The City Dash, SiriusXM's Da Joint, and
major-market FM stations across New York and New England, expanding his
influence within Caribbean and urban music communities; and

WHEREAS, Through decades of excellence in music performance, event
production, mentorship, and media presence, Marvin "DJ Legend" Smith
embodies the artistry, innovation, and cultural leadership honored by

the Nina Simone Artistic Excellence Disc Jockey of the Year Award; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marvin "DJ Legend" Smith upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Nina Simone Artistic Excellence Disc Jockey of the Year
Award, and to commend his extraordinary contributions to music, live
entertainment, and Black cultural leadership; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marvin Smith as an expression of the highest respect and
appreciation of this Legislative Body.
