HONORING Donald Castellucci Jr. upon the occasion
of his retirement after 30 years of distinguished
service to the Town of Owego
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Donald Castellucci Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to the Town of Owego; and
WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Donald Castellucci Jr. rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the Town of Owego; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Town Supervisor, Donald Castellucci Jr.
served with loyalty, honor, and distinction; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of SUNY Broome, Donald Castellucci Jr. has
dedicated his professional life to serving others; his prior work
experience includes time with the Broome County DSS, the State Insurance
Fund, and the American Red Cross Blood Services Division, where he
learned invaluable lessons from each along his journey; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his career with the Town of Owego in 1996, Donald
Castellucci Jr. was elected as town councilman where he served
faithfully for 14 years before his election as town supervisor; his
tenure in the latter role spanned an impressive seven-and-a-half terms-a
testament to his constituents' enduring trust and his commitment to a
career of purposeful service; and
WHEREAS, Donald Castellucci Jr.'s time in office was marked by
myriad achievements, including the construction of a 9-11 memorial in
Hickories Park; urgent responses to disastrous flooding in 2006 and
2011; numerous upgrades to Town Hall; the conversion of street lights to
LED lights; the repurposing of Tioga Terrace Park; the rebuilding and
reinforcement of well houses, water wells, and pump stations, as well as
the introduction of standby power to these vital resources; and the
creation of the new Shared Services Building which houses equipment out
of the floodplain and has access to a fuel tank reserve to allow for
immediate responses to a variety of emergencies; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Donald Castellucci Jr. was governed
by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human
problems; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his partner, Vicki; their two
children, Donald and Lauren; and his daughter-in-law, Emily, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his fruitful life and rejoice in his
many achievements; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Town of Owego, Donald
Castellucci, Jr. earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donald Castellucci Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after
30 years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donald Castellucci Jr.
