MOURNING the death of Sean V. Harte, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte of Stony Point, New York, died on May 1,
2025, at the age of 79; and

WHEREAS, A native of Ireland, Sean V. Harte was born February 21,
1946, to Patrick and Annie Harte; and

WHEREAS, After starting his education at Kiltycreevagh National
School in Longford, Ireland, Sean V. Harte continued his studies at St.
Mary's Secondary School; and

WHEREAS, Motivated by a sense of adventure and in the pursuit of a
better future, Sean V. Harte emigrated to the United States; and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, Bringing with him a strong work ethic, Sean V. Harte had a
long and fruitful career with Con. Edison where he would support his
fellow workers through his involvement with the local branch of the
Utility Workers Union of America (U.W.U.A.); and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Serving as both Branch Chairperson and a member of the
Executive Board of the U.W.U.A. local branch, Sean V. Harte was
dedicated to social justice and was always a voice for fair play, the
underdog and those in need; and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte served in a voluntary capacity for a number
of years after his retirement on a program to promote safety in the
workplace that was co-sponsored by management and workers; and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte served in the United States Army with honor
and attained the rank of Sergeant while serving with the Army Corps of
Engineers; and

WHEREAS, With a passion for politics, Sean V. Harte dedicated over
two decades of his time to the local Democratic Committee where he was
considered one of the most effective petition carriers that ever existed
on the Stony Point Democratic Committee; and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte's passion in life was his family; he loved
hosting family gatherings, fishing with family, and spending time with
his children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Wanting to maintain very close links to his roots in
Ireland, Sean V. Harte kept in close contact with family members back in
Ireland through email and telephone conversations; he made regular
visits to his homeland including an annual "Pilgrimage" every Autumn;
and

WHEREAS, Sean V. Harte is survived by his wife Margaret; his beloved
children John, Josephine, and Mairead; grandchildren Chloe, Colette,
Ronan, J.J., Madison, Gavin, and Eoin; and his siblings P.J., Rita,
Breege, Peter, and Colm; he is predeceased by his father Patrick; mother
Annie; daughter Margaret Ann, who passed away in infancy;
daughter-in-law Olivia Harte; his nieces Delia Flaherty and Sheila
McEvoy; and sister-in-law Dympna Harte; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Sean V. Harte leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Sean V. Harte, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sean V. Harte.
