CONGRATULATING Jolie Chichak of Shenendehowa High
School upon the occasion of capturing the 2025
NYSPHSAA Girls Tennis Singles State Championship on
October 29th, 2025

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Jolie
Chichak, who captured the 2025 NYSPHSAA Girls Tennis Singles State
Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in
Flushing, New York on Wednesday, October 29, 2025; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of her excited fans, Jolie
Chichak won the state title with a 7-6(2), 6-4 victory over her opponent
from Great Neck South High School; and

WHEREAS, Utilizing outstanding talent, Jolie Chichak is the first
singles state champion from Section 2 since 1998, and Shenendehowa's
first ever singles State Champion; and

WHEREAS, This win capped an impressive season for Jolie Chichak who
also became her school's first Section 2 singles champion with a
straight-sets victory (6-1, 6-0) over her opponent at SPORTIME Capital
Region in the Town of Rotterdam, New York on October 23, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Jolie Chichak has earned the number 1 singles spot on the
Shenendehowa Varsity Girls' Tennis Team each year since her first year
as a 7th grader compiling an outstanding record of 15-2, followed by a
record of 14-1 as an 8th grader and 8-0 as a 9th grader; and

WHEREAS, Demonstrating consistent play in her young tennis career,
Jolie Chichak finished in the top 3 of Section 2 all three years,
qualifying for the New York State Tournament each time; and

WHEREAS, In addition to exceptional athletic performance between the
lines, Jolie Chichak excelled in the classroom garnering a 96.33 grade
point average and earning a spot on the high achievement list; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as tennis, which demands athletic prowess,
speed, precision and agility, Wilton YMCA Coach Jed Murray, Shenendehowa
Varsity Coach Chris Hanley and Assistant Coach Bill MacArthur all worked
hard to hone the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding

athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the court;
and

WHEREAS, For her many achievements, Jolie Chichak has garnered a
four-star rating and top 100 national ranking with the Tennis Recruiting
Network; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jolie Chichak of Shenendehowa High School upon the occasion
of capturing the 2025 NYSPHSAA Girls Tennis Singles State Championship
on October 29th, 2025; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jolie Chichak, Shenendehowa Varsity Coach Chris Hanley,
Assistant Coach Bill MacArthur, Wilton YMCA Coach Jed Murray, Athletic
Director Lucas LaBarre, Principal Ron Agostinoni and Interim
Superintendent Dr. Cecily Wilson-Turner.
