HONORING the Mineola Junior Fire Department upon
the occasion of hosting its 29th Annual Pasta Dinner
on March 8, 2026

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Mineola Junior Fire Department upon the occasion of hosting its 29th
Annual Pasta Dinner at the Mineola Community Center on Sunday, March 8,
2026; and

WHEREAS, The Mineola Junior Fire Department celebrates its 50th
Anniversary in 2026, and looks back fondly on all its valuable community
service endeavors as it approaches this remarkable milestone; and

WHEREAS, The Mineola Junior Firefighters dedicate countless hours
training under the supervision of volunteer firefighters and attend
pertinent classes, learning valuable skills and knowledge for the
profession; and

WHEREAS, The Mineola Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of 50
former juniors, with six former juniors having become the chief of the
department, and three current juniors hold staff positions under the
current fire chief; and

WHEREAS, The highly regarded endeavors of the members of the Mineola
Junior Fire Department include their annual Operation Santa program, the
Villages Halloween Party, shoveling senior homes and fire hydrants after
snowstorms, and fundraising for various charities and for the New York
State Firemen's Home; and

WHEREAS, The impacts of the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department are
far reaching; this junior department is the first junior program in the
United States to exchange with a European junior program, coordinating
with the Hamburg Stellingen German Juniors in 2007 and 2010; and

WHEREAS, Further proving the international reach of this impressive
program, The Mineola Juniors have been visited twice by a delegation of
top Japanese officials who studied the junior program for its
development in Japan; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Mineola Junior Fire Department is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its leaders and its members, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community they serve; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Mineola Junior Fire Department upon the occasion of hosting
its 29th Annual Pasta Dinner on March 8, 2026; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Mineola Junior Fire Department.
