HONORING Cumberland Bay Market upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2026 Small
Business of the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those small businesses within the State of New York whose
dedication, innovation, and community spirit strengthen the economic and
social fabric of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
longstanding traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cumberland Bay Market upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the 2026 Small Business of the Year Award by the North Country
Chamber of Commerce at its 114th Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, January
30, 2026, at the Warren Ballroom at SUNY Plattsburgh; and

WHEREAS, Owned and operated by Stacey Ambler and her husband, Kris,
since 2018, Cumberland Bay Market, located at 1544 Cumberland Head Road
in Plattsburgh, New York, has flourished as both a successful small
business and a trusted neighborhood gathering place; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by a shared vision of the creative possibilities a
community market could offer, Stacey and Kris Ambler embraced the
opportunity to purchase the market and bring that vision to life,
transforming it into a dependable destination for residents and visitors
alike; and

WHEREAS, Over the past seven years, under Stacey Ambler's
leadership, Cumberland Bay Market has evolved into more than a
neighborhood store; it has become a welcoming community hub offering
quality food, catering services, and a space that meets the daily needs
of residents while strengthening the surrounding area; and

WHEREAS, The market's success is rooted in its commitment to
personal connection and neighborly care, fostering meaningful
relationships with customers, staff, local vendors, and the broader
community; and

WHEREAS, Cumberland Bay Market stands as a model of small business
excellence in the North Country, drawing patrons from across the region
and demonstrating how resilience, hard work, and a community-focused
mission can yield lasting success; and

WHEREAS, Looking toward the future, Cumberland Bay Market continues
to innovate and respond to community needs, with plans to expand healthy
offerings in 2026, including additional salads, high-protein ready-made
foods, gluten-free options, and the return of weekly dinner specials,
reflecting a thoughtful and forward-looking approach to business; and

WHEREAS, The designation of Cumberland Bay Market as the 2026 Small
Business of the Year appropriately recognizes its outstanding service,
entrepreneurial spirit, and steadfast commitment to enhancing the

quality of life in Plattsburgh and the greater North Country region;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cumberland Bay Market upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2026 Small Business of the Year Award by the North
Country Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stacey and Kris Ambler, Cumberland Bay Market.
