COMMENDING the National Action Network upon the
occasion of hosting its 35th Annual Convention
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on April 8, 2026

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend organizations whose tireless efforts advance social justice,
civil rights, and community empowerment, embodying the enduring
principles of equality, fairness, and public service; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the National Action Network (NAN) upon the occasion of hosting
its 35th Annual Convention Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, April
8, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1991 by the Reverend Dr. Al Sharpton, the
National Action Network has grown into one of the nation's foremost
civil rights organizations, with headquarters in New York City and a
presence extending across the United States; and

WHEREAS, For 35 years, NAN has championed equality, justice, and
human rights, leading initiatives to combat discrimination, advance
voting rights, address economic disparities, reform criminal justice,
and protect the civil liberties of marginalized communities; and

WHEREAS, The National Action Network's work has had a profound
impact on New York City and beyond, providing leadership in advocacy,
grassroots organizing, public education, and policy reform that
strengthens communities and uplifts individuals; and

WHEREAS, Through annual conventions, community programs, and civic
engagement efforts, NAN cultivates a culture of activism, leadership,
and empowerment, inspiring generations to take action in the pursuit of
justice, equity, and social progress; and

WHEREAS, The 35th Annual Convention Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
represents not only a celebration of the organization's achievements but
also a recommitment to its mission of service, advocacy, and
transformative impact on the lives of countless New Yorkers and
Americans nationwide; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the National Action Network upon the occasion of hosting its
35th Annual Convention Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, and to recognize the
organization's exemplary leadership, dedication to civil rights, and
unwavering commitment to social justice in New York City and throughout
the nation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the National Action Network as a lasting expression of
the highest respect and admiration of this Legislative Body.
