MOURNING the death of Denis Michael Troy,
distinguished public servant, devoted family man,
and tireless advocate for the Orangetown community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
profound regret of the passing of an esteemed citizen of the State of
New York whose life was a testament to the virtues of service,
leadership, and compassion; and

WHEREAS, Denis Michael Troy of Pearl River, New York, died
peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by
his loving family; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 31, 1947, in the Fordham section of the Bronx,
New York, Denis Troy was a proud "Jasper," earning his B.S. in
Mathematics from Manhattan College, and later pursuing advanced studies
at Iona College and George Washington University; and

WHEREAS, Denis Troy's professional journey was marked by a
commitment to both education and technology, beginning his career as a
math and driver education teacher at St. Raymond High School before
transitioning into a successful 35-year career in Information Technology
with AT&T/Lucent, IBM, and the County of Rockland; and

WHEREAS, Denis Troy's true calling was in service to his community,
where he served with distinction for over 30 years as a Rockland County
Legislator (1996-1999), an Orangetown Councilman (2000-2021), and Deputy
Town Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, Denis Troy was a staunch protector of
his "little oasis" in Orangetown, New York, championing fiscal
responsibility and the preservation of town services, and was honored in
2021 with the Key to the Town for his tireless efforts; and

WHEREAS, Denis Troy's legacy is forever etched into the local
landscape through the official renaming of the Orangetown Soccer Complex
in his honor, a tribute to his decades of support for youth sports and
local recreation; and

WHEREAS, A pillar of the Irish-American community, Denis Troy was a
long-time President and member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH)
Division 3, where he led the expansion of the Hibernian House and was
celebrated as a former Grand Marshal of the Rockland County St.
Patrick's Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, Denis Troy's spirit of "Friendship, Unity, and Christian
Charity"-the motto of the Ancient Order of Hibernians-extended to his
work with Camp Venture, the Special Olympics, the Pearl River Little
League, and Lourdes Kids of Rockland, proving himself a champion for
those in need; and

WHEREAS, Above all his achievements, Denis Troy was a man of family,
survived by his beloved "dance partner" of 54 years, Beatrice; his

children, Kathleen, Michael, Daniel, and Patrick; and his nine cherished
grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his story of showing up for
others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Denis Michael Troy, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family and the community he served so faithfully; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Denis Michael Troy.
