MOURNING the death of Edward Robert Grexa,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa of Cortlandt Manor, New York, died on
February 7, 2026, at the age of 89; and

WHEREAS, Born on December 29, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, to the
late Joseph and Caroline (Krankus) Grexa, Edward Robert Grexa's journey
through life was marked by devotion to his family and service to his
country and community; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa enjoyed an amazing 66-year marriage to
his beloved wife, Karen; together they raised their daughters in their
home in the town of Cortlandt Manor, NY; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, A proud veteran, Edward Robert Grexa served his country
with distinction in the United States Army National Guard from 1955 to
1996; and

WHEREAS, A man of many interests, Edward Robert Grexa was often
found tinkering with his 1951 Willy's Jeep, with a fishing rod in hand,
pondering over military history, or scouting the next great find at a
gun show; and

WHEREAS, With a knack for making lifelong friends in the span of a
single conversation, Edward Robert Grexa seemed to collect friends and
stories that enriched his life; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa's commitment to service extended into
his civilian life as well, where he was a former commissioner and a
69-year member of the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association and an active
member of the Verplanck American Legion Post 1030; and

WHEREAS, A proud family man, Edward Robert Grexa was always the
first to raise a glass in celebration of his family's achievements, no
matter how big or small; and

WHEREAS, Edward Robert Grexa is survived by his beloved wife of 66
years, Karen; his daughter Alisa (Michael); grandchildren, Lauren (Gil),

Cody (Amanda), Ciarra (Bradley), and Alana; great-grandchildren, Cassidy
and Ryder; his brothers, William (Grace) and George (Barbara); and his
many nieces and nephews; he is predeceased by his brothers, Rudolph and
Joseph; and his daughter Denise; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Edward Robert Grexa leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Edward Robert Grexa, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Edward Robert Grexa.
