COMMEMORATING the 75th Anniversary of the
Northwest Civic Association of Hicksville, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly
acknowledge those organizations whose endeavors serve the best interests
of the citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Northwest Civic Association of
Hicksville, New York; and
WHEREAS, A civic association is a voluntary, community-based group
that aims to improve, protect, and enhance the quality of life, safety,
and environment within a specific neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The Northwest Civic Association of Hicksville was founded
in 1951 to unite the northwest section of Hicksville for civic, social,
and educational advancements and to strive for the general betterment
and welfare of its community; and
WHEREAS, The civic association represents the residents in the area
served by the Burns Avenue Elementary School; it is bounded on the south
by the Long Island Railroad, on the west by the North Hempstead-Oyster
Bay town line, on the north by the Northern State Parkway, an east-west
line through the center of 16th Street, and on the east by the center of
Broadway; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Northwest Civic Association of
Hicksville, the longest active area civic organization in Hicksville, is
in direct correlation to the unwavering efforts and commitment of its
members and leadership; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional organization, its numerous important
contributions, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of life in
its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Northwest Civic Association of
Hicksville, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Northwest Civic Association of Hicksville.
