HONORING Ronnie and Marty Lichter upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Young Israel of Plainview Community Leadership Award
for Outstanding Service to the Community

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie and Marty Lichter have given not only their time and
energies, but also their competence, intelligence, and leadership, and
consequently have been designated for this special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ronnie and
Marty Lichter upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of
the Young Israel of Plainview Community Leadership Award for Outstanding
Service to the Community to be celebrated on Sunday, March 22, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie and Marty Lichter have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their service, a period of
constructive involvement, Ronnie and Marty Lichter have stood constant
in dignity, good grace, and humor; and

WHEREAS, Joining Young Israel when they moved to Plainview, New York
in 1973, Ronnie and Marty Lichter have spent the last 53 years helping
to make Young Israel of Plainview a vibrant Orthodox community; and

WHEREAS, Together, Ronnie and Marty Lichter raised their two
children Jennifer and Rabbi Ian in Plainview and are the proud
grandparents of seven grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Lichter has served as President of Young Israel of
Plainview Sisterhood, PTA President of Plainview's elementary school
Yeshiva (Hebrew Academy of Plainview), and served on the HANC Board of
Directors; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Lichter taught many of Plainview's nursery
schoolchildren at HANC for eighteen years, then she became the Director
of Early Childhood at the Silverstein Hebrew Academy in Great Neck, New
York; a role she performed for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Marty Lichter was a history teacher at two New York City
High Schools for 33 years, mentoring many students during his tenure; he
then taught AP Government for 15 years at the North Shore Hebrew
Academy, before retiring from teaching; and

WHEREAS, Marty Lichter also served on the Board of Education for
Mercaz Hebrew Academy in Plainview; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Ronnie and Marty Lichter
have displayed throughout their life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ronnie and Marty Lichter upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Young Israel of Plainview Community Leadership Award
for Outstanding Service to the Community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ronnie and Marty Lichter.
