HONORING Harvey Greenberg upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Congregation
Beth Tikvah on June 7, 2026

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those outstanding individuals whose lives of service and
leadership have strengthened their communities and enriched the lives of
others; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Harvey Greenberg upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Congregation Beth Tikvah, to be celebrated at its Journal
Celebration on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Congregation Beth Tikvah in
Wantagh, New York; and

WHEREAS, Congregation Beth Tikvah, meaning "House of Hope," is a
vibrant Conservative Jewish synagogue formed through the merger of the
Farmingdale Jewish Center, Wantagh Jewish Center, Israel Community
Center of Levittown, and Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, and continues to
serve as a cornerstone of religious, educational, and communal life; and

WHEREAS, Harvey Greenberg is being honored as a dedicated and
long-serving leader whose steadfast commitment has had a lasting and
meaningful impact on the congregation and its members; and

WHEREAS, A native of the Bronx, New York, Harvey Greenberg, together
with his wife Doris, established their home in Massapequa Park, New
York, where their connection to the Farmingdale Jewish Center was
inspired by their neighbors, a founding family of the congregation; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, Harvey Greenberg has demonstrated exemplary
leadership and devotion, serving in numerous roles within the
Farmingdale Jewish Center, including as its President, and continuing
his service following its merger with the Wantagh Jewish Center; and

WHEREAS, At Congregation Beth Tikvah, Harvey Greenberg has
faithfully served on the Board of Trustees, currently holds the role of
Board Parliamentarian, and contributes as Treasurer of the Men's Club,
exemplifying his enduring dedication to the congregation's governance
and vitality; and

WHEREAS, During the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19
pandemic, Harvey Greenberg stepped forward to lead virtual daily morning
services, ensuring continuity of worship and community connection during
a time of great need; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his contributions, he was previously
honored as the Synagogue's Man of the Year by the Federation of Jewish
Men's Clubs, reflecting the high esteem in which he is held by his
peers; and

WHEREAS, In his professional life, Harvey Greenberg served with
distinction as a Senior Manager for the Internal Revenue Service, and
upon his retirement, was awarded the prestigious Albert Gallatin Award
for Career Meritorious Service by the United States Department of the
Treasury; and

WHEREAS, Continuing his commitment to service beyond his
professional career, Harvey Greenberg has shared his expertise as a
Master Instructor in Leadership and Management, volunteered as an AARP
Tax Aide, and contributed his time as a statistician for the Empire
Games for the Physically Challenged; and

WHEREAS, Together, Harvey and Doris Greenberg have embraced a life
enriched by travel, community involvement, and meaningful experiences,
including participation in a relief mission to support the Jewish
community in Cuba; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to their family, Harvey and Doris Greenberg are the
proud parents of two accomplished daughters, Stacey and Randi, and
cherished grandparents to three grandchildren, in whom they have
instilled the same values of commitment, service, and community; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
individuals whose character, dedication, and service stand as a
testament to the enduring strength and spirit of their communities; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harvey Greenberg upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Congregation Beth Tikvah on June 7, 2026; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Harvey Greenberg.
