CONGRATULATING the Medgar Evers College Men's and
Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams upon the
occasion of capturing the 2026 CUNYAC Indoor Track
and Field Championships on March 1, 2026

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in collegiate sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Medgar Evers College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams upon
the occasion of capturing the 2026 CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field
Championships on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Nike Track & Field Center
at The Armory in New York, New York; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Medgar Evers College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams have
captured their third consecutive CUNYAC Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Men's team worked as a team to earn 169 points by the
end of the meet, followed by Hunter College with 114 points; the Women's
team finished with 168 points, surpassing Hunter's 150 as the runner-up;
and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black and gold,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Cougars throughout their journey as they ended their
seasons with impressive overall records; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as track and field, which demands athletic
prowess, speed, and agility, Head Coach Hugh Reid and Assistant Coach
Aaron Dickens worked hard to hone the skills of these championship
teams, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove
invaluable both on and off the track; and

WHEREAS, Coach Hugh Reid, Assistant Coach Aaron Dickens, and all the
outstanding athletes on the Medgar Evers College Men's and Women's
Indoor Track and Field Teams have clearly utilized dedication,
determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Medgar Evers College Men's and Women's
Indoor Track and Field Teams: David Awaye, Joash Beaton, Zachary Bussey,
David Chisholm, Matthew Fleming, Pharell Fowler, Reco Griffith, Omari

Hinds, Jahiem Johnson, Leshaun Miller, Chrisnel Nicolas, Michael Ortega,
Nathan Sanderson, Ahmed Toure, Mario Wilson, Zion Young-baez, Martiza
Argueta, Rinnah Brown, Nia Butler, Moutiatou Djibring, Keyona Evans,
Kenia Irish-Bramble, Jada Lambert, Danajah Lawrence, Brianna Lindo,
Jennifer Metra, Nana Samake, Thenica Thompson, and Sarah Vallon; Head
Coach Hugh Reid; and Assistant Coach Aaron Dickens upon the occasion of
capturing the 2026 CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on March
1, 2026; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Medgar Evers College Men's and Women's
Indoor Track and Field Teams, Head Coach Hugh Reid, and Assistant Coach
Aaron Dickens.
