COMMEMORATING the 90th anniversary of Clinton
Garden Club in 2024
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the quality
and character of life in this great Empire State is greatly enriched by
the faithful and diligent work of those organizations which serve to
meet the needs of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 90th anniversary of Clinton Garden Club in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Residing in Clinton, New York, Clinton Garden Club was
founded in 1934 and has been an active participant in community affairs
for the past almost century; the Club is federated with the National
Garden Clubs, Inc. and also belongs to District Five of the New York
State Garden Clubs and the Friends of Root Glen; and
WHEREAS, Early projects of Clinton Garden Club were plantings at the
Kirkland Town Library and the village green; for 85 years, the Club has
tended the shrubs and flowers, while placing colorful planters to
decorate and beautify the village sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to their community, Clinton Garden Club has staged
numerous events at flower shows, garden tours, bus trips, and lectures;
now, the Club is working on projects including Garden Therapy at the
Lutheran Home, provision of a DEC student scholarship, and environmental
scholarship at Clinton High School and more; and
WHEREAS, Held annually, Clinton Garden Club has a "Plants Plus" sale
that features perennials dug from members' gardens, annuals, planted
baskets, decorative items, and baked goods; and
WHEREAS, The success of Clinton Garden Club is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its leadership and members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which unselfishly devote their energy, talent and
thoughtful care on behalf of improving the quality and dignity of life
in the community, are worthy and due full praise and recognition for
their noble and dedicated efforts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 90th anniversary of Clinton Garden Club in 2024; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Clinton Garden Club.
