COMMENDING Rebecca Boyer upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the
highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New
York State Senate

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, nobly risking
their own lives in an effort to preserve the life of another; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Rebecca Boyer upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, On December 30, 2025, Rebecca Boyer saved the life of a man
experiencing a medical emergency, demonstrating the profound impact of
individual leadership in moments of crisis; and

WHEREAS, Owner of McGraw Small Town Pizzeria in McGraw, New York,
Rebecca Boyer was alerted to an emergency in a parked vehicle outside
her business where a passenger was suffering from a heart attack; and

WHEREAS, Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Rebecca Boyer
remained calm and focused as she provided aid until further help could
arrive; her decisive response ensured that the individual received
critical assistance during a life-threatening emergency, and a situation
that could have ended in tragedy, instead resulted in a saved life; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Boyer acted without hesitation and without regard
for recognition, guided solely by compassion and concern for another
person's life; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of her actions, Rebecca Boyer was presented
with the Local Hero Award by the Village of McGraw; an honor that
reflects the gratitude of a community that witnessed firsthand the
impact of her courage and presence of mind; and

WHEREAS, In her spontaneous and heroic actions, Rebecca Boyer
demonstrated her character and compassion for the welfare of others,
exemplifying the best qualities inherent in our citizens; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rebecca Boyer upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rebecca Boyer.
