CONGRATULATING Leah Richardson upon the occasion
of her retirement after 30 years of distinguished
service to the New York State Unified Court System

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong learner and dedicated public servant, Leah
Richardson holds a Master of Public Administration from John Jay College
of Criminal Justice, specializing in Organizational Management, and a
Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the College of New Rochelle;
additionally, she is also a Licensed Property Manager (RAM); and

WHEREAS, In 1996, Leah Richardson began her career as Senior P.C.
Analyst and was later promoted to Principal P.C. Analyst; she has
continued to provide essential technical support to judges, management,
and staff in both the Civil and Criminal Supreme Courts; and

WHEREAS, As an accomplished Network Systems Engineer and a respected
leader at the Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn, New York, Leah
Richardson is known for her expertise in technology, training, and
program development; and

WHEREAS, Active in her community, Leah Richardson has held several
leadership positions, including President, Vice President, County
Delegate Coordinator, Kings County Delegate, and Professional
Development Coordinator, for the Tribune Society; and

WHEREAS, Leah Richardson boldly addresses tough issues with
management to ensure equal opportunities for all court employees; she
has brought her leadership and organizational skills to the community
where she coordinated a highly successful Teen Summit at a New York City
housing development; and

WHEREAS, In coordination with other non-judicial and judicial staff,
Leah Richardson has served as Co-Chair and has helped develop numerous
programs for which Kings County has become recognized as one of the most
active and innovative counties within the New York State Unified Court
System; and

WHEREAS, Leah Richardson's leadership extends well beyond the
courts; she is distinguished by her active involvement throughout the
community and her ability to identify, leverage, and develop impactful
programs; and

WHEREAS, Leah Richardson has numerous past and present leadership
roles in various organizations, boards, clubs, programs, and committees;
her tireless work reflects her belief that community growth begins with
opportunity, education, and compassion; and

WHEREAS, For her outstanding service, Leah Richardson has earned
many awards, including the Judith Kaye Community Service Award, Mayor

David Dinkins Role Model of the Year Award, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
"Reflection of the Dream" Award, Appellate Division, Second Department's
prestigious Milton Mollen Award, and the Brooklyn Bar Association's Hon.
Nathan R. Sobel Award; and

WHEREAS, A few additional honors include: recognition from the New
York City Police Department Police Academy and Citizens Police Academy;
New York State Senate Proclamation, 25th Senate District - Anti-Violence
Women of Courage Award; New York State Assembly Citation; Civil Service
Award; Special Citation of Recognition - Community Service Award; and
Special Congressional Recognition; and

WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for justice, equity, and community
pride, Leah Richardson continues to uplift those around her through her
leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to service; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her 30 years of dedication and service to the
New York State Unified Court System, Leah Richardson has earned the
admiration, esteem, and affection of her colleagues; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Leah Richardson upon the occasion of her retirement after
30 years of distinguished service to the New York State Unified Court
System; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Leah Richardson.
