COMMENDING the Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity upon the occasion of its 75th Diamond
Anniversary Celebration

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose enduring commitment to brotherhood, scholarship,
and service has enriched the civic and educational life of the State of
New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., upon
the occasion of its 75th Diamond Anniversary Celebration, to be held
April 23-26, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was founded on January 5, 1911,
at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, making it one of the
oldest and most distinguished historically Black fraternities in the
United States; since its founding, Kappa Alpha Psi has remained
steadfast in its commitment to achievement in every field of human
endeavor, building a legacy of scholarship, leadership, service, and
fraternal excellence that has shaped the lives of men and communities
across this Nation and beyond; and

WHEREAS, The Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was
established in 1951 at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, and
for 75 years, has stood as a pillar of brotherhood and achievement on
the Syracuse University campus, cultivating generations of principled
leaders and dedicated servants of the public good; and

WHEREAS, The 75th Diamond Anniversary Celebration, under the
leadership of Brother Malik Evans, represents a historic homecoming for
brothers initiated at the Delta Beta Chapter, gathering men whose shared
experiences, enduring bonds, and collective contributions to their
communities speak to the transformative power of fraternal brotherhood;
and

WHEREAS, The Anniversary weekend's program, encompassing fellowship
events, workshops facilitated by brothers of the fraternity, the 75th
Diamond Kabaret, and campus events, reflects the Chapter's commitment to
honoring its history, celebrating its present strength, and investing in
its future through scholarship support via the Delta Beta Executive
Alumni Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The Diamond Anniversary of the Delta Beta Chapter is a
milestone that invites reflection on not only what this Chapter has
built over 75 years at Syracuse University but also the extraordinary
legacy of Kappa Alpha Psi as a whole--an organization that has produced
governors, senators, judges, educators, physicians, artists, athletes,
and community leaders who have made New York State and this Nation
immeasurably richer; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor the Delta
Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, its alumni, and its current
members, who have carried forward the light of this Chapter with
dedication, distinction, and a love of brotherhood that 75 years have
only deepened; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, upon the
occasion of its 75th Diamond Anniversary Celebration, and to extend
congratulations on 75 years of brotherhood, scholarship, and service;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the officers, alumni, and members of the Delta Beta
Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in recognition of this historic
milestone and their enduring contributions to the communities of New
York State.
