HONORING Martin's Pretzel Bakery upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the National
Small Business Manufacturer of the Year Award by the
U.S. Small Business Administration

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished individuals and businesses which contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Martin's Pretzel Bakery upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the National Small Business Manufacturer of the Year Award
by the U.S. Small Business Administration, to be recognized on Monday,
May 11, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Josiah Martin and Justus Martin, owners of Martin's Pretzel
Bakery of Moira, New York, were selected among outstanding businesses
from across the nation for this competitive and prestigious accolade;
and

WHEREAS, Martin's Pretzel Bakery is a family business driving
Martin's Handmade Pretzels, serving as a powerful example of rural
manufacturing growth and perseverance; and

WHEREAS, Carrying forward a pretzel-making tradition that spans
nearly a century, Josiah Martin purchased and relocated the bakery to
Moira, New York, where he works alongside family upholding its legacy;
Josiah Martin co-manages Martin's Country Store with his father, Justus
Martin; and

WHEREAS, After a devastating fire threatened to end operations less
than two months after opening in 2020, the business was rebuilt through
determination, strong community support, and assistance from the North
Country Small Business Development Center; now, Martin's Pretzel Bakery
continues to grow, create jobs, and bring a long-standing family
tradition to new markets; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding achievement builds on their earlier
recognition as the 2025 New York State Small Business Development
Centers Phoenix Award recipient, which highlighted a continued journey
of growth, resilience, and excellence; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Martin's Pretzel Bakery upon the occasion of its designation as

recipient of the National Small Business Manufacturer of the Year Award
by the U.S. Small Business Administration; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Josiah Martin and Justus Martin, owners of Martin's
Pretzel Bakery.
