HONORING Oscar Lin upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the New York State
Citizenship Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today, and the leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this
great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Oscar Lin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the New
York State Citizenship Award, to be recognized on May 19, 2026, at East
Meadow High School in East Meadow, New York; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Citizenship Award is bestowed upon
students who embody the highest principles of civic responsibility,
integrity, and dedication to the common good, serving as role models who
strengthen the fabric of their communities through their actions,
conduct, and example; and

WHEREAS, True citizenship is demonstrated not only through academic
success, but through a steadfast commitment to service, ethical
leadership, personal accountability, and an unwavering sense of
responsibility toward others and the broader community; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin has consistently exemplified these ideals through
his character, his actions, and his commitment to serving others,
reflecting the very essence of responsible and engaged citizenship; and

WHEREAS, As a student who understands that citizenship is both a
privilege and a responsibility, Oscar Lin has demonstrated a sustained
commitment to civic engagement, actively seeking opportunities to
contribute meaningfully to his school community and to the well-being of
those around him; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin, a Senior at East Meadow High School in East
Meadow, New York, has distinguished himself as an intelligent,
compassionate, and driven student leader whose actions consistently
reflect maturity, purpose, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated and inspiring leader, Oscar Lin currently
serves as Senior Class President and Co-President of both the Science
Honor Society and the World Action Club, where he has strengthened
student involvement and encouraged meaningful participation in school
life; and

WHEREAS, Through his leadership roles, Oscar Lin has demonstrated
that citizenship is actively practiced through service, collaboration,
and the ability to bring individuals together in pursuit of shared goals
that benefit the larger community; and

WHEREAS, Ranked in the top 5% of his class, Oscar Lin has excelled
in a rigorous academic program that includes nine Advanced Placement
courses and five college-level classes, reflecting both discipline and a
strong commitment to academic excellence as a foundation for informed
and responsible citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin has organized major school events that foster
school spirit and community engagement, and has led impactful service
initiatives, including coordinating efforts with the New York Blood
Center, thereby promoting awareness of civic responsibility and the
importance of service to others; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin's leadership in service initiatives demonstrates
a deep understanding that citizenship is strengthened through
volunteerism, compassion, and a willingness to address the needs of the
community in meaningful and practical ways; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his academic and leadership achievements,
Oscar Lin is a varsity athlete, competing on both the volleyball and
tennis teams, where he is recognized for his teamwork, discipline,
perseverance, and exemplary sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, Through his participation in athletics, Oscar Lin has
further demonstrated that citizenship is reflected in fair play, respect
for others, and the ability to contribute positively to a team
environment while striving for excellence; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin has extended his commitment to service beyond the
school setting through his volunteer work at Nassau University Medical
Center and his training in an Emergency Medical Technician program,
reflecting a profound dedication to helping others in times of need; and

WHEREAS, His engagement in healthcare-related service underscores a
strong sense of civic duty and a clear understanding that responsible
citizenship includes caring for the health, safety, and well-being of
others; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin has consistently demonstrated qualities of
independence, perseverance, humility, and gratitude, and is widely
respected for his kindness, emotional intelligence, and ability to
uplift and support those around him; and

WHEREAS, The essence of citizenship lies in the willingness to act
with integrity, to serve selflessly, to respect others, and to
contribute positively to society, all of which Oscar Lin has
demonstrated through both word and deed; and

WHEREAS, Oscar Lin's actions reflect a deep appreciation for the
responsibilities that accompany citizenship, including leadership,
service, and the ongoing commitment to improve one's community through
thoughtful and ethical engagement; and

WHEREAS, His example affirms that responsible citizenship is not a
single achievement, but a lifelong endeavor that extends beyond the
classroom and into every aspect of personal, academic, and professional
life; and

WHEREAS, As he looks forward to his next chapter in the field of
healthcare, Oscar Lin is poised to continue advancing his leadership
skills, furthering his academic and professional goals, and making a
lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, Poised with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility,
this scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in his
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the guidance and support provided by his
teachers, mentors, family, and community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Oscar Lin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
New York State Citizenship Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Oscar Lin.
