HONORING Andrew Shaw upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Citizenship
Advancement Award on June 2, 2026

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those outstanding young individuals within the State of New York
whose academic achievements, leadership, and service to their
communities have brought honor to their schools, families, and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Andrew Shaw upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Citizenship Advancement Award to be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2, 2026;
and

WHEREAS, A Senior at Island Trees High School, Andrew Shaw has
distinguished himself as an exceptional student, athlete, employee, and
role model among his peers; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Shaw exemplifies both academic ambition and genuine
kindness, consistently demonstrating compassion, friendliness, and
respect in his interactions with others; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Shaw conducts himself with quiet confidence and
humility, consistently striving to do what is right and holding himself
to the highest personal standards, thereby exemplifying integrity,
character, and responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to personal excellence and possessing a clear
vision for his future, Andrew Shaw has achieved an outstanding weighted
academic average of 100.57, reflecting his steadfast commitment to
scholarship and achievement; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Shaw is a proud member of both the National Honor
Society and the French Honor Society, and further enriches his school
community through his participation in the Yearbook Club, French Club,
and Outdoors Club; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his academic and extracurricular
accomplishments, Andrew Shaw has excelled as a member of the varsity
golf team, demonstrating teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship both on
and off the course; and

WHEREAS, Last year, Andrew Shaw was selected by the faculty to
participate in Cohen Strong, Northwell Health's teen mental health
awareness program, through which he underwent specialized training and
earned certification in teen mental health awareness, further
exemplifying his dedication to the well-being of others; and

WHEREAS, Beyond his school and community commitments, Andrew Shaw
also maintains employment at Bounce, a children's entertainment
facility, where he works several hours each week and carries out

numerous responsibilities with maturity, diligence, and professionalism;
and

WHEREAS, Through his academic excellence, leadership, compassion,
work ethic, and unwavering commitment to serving others, Andrew Shaw has
truly distinguished himself as an outstanding young citizen worthy of
the admiration and respect of his family, school, and community; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Andrew Shaw upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Citizenship Advancement Award on June 2, 2026; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Andrew Shaw.
