HONORING Michael Antonellis upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the New York State
Citizenship Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this
great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Antonellis upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York State Citizenship Award, to be celebrated at a ceremony on
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Farmingdale High School; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Citizenship Award is bestowed upon
students who embody the highest principles of civic responsibility,
integrity, and dedication to the common good, serving as role models who
strengthen the fabric of their communities through their actions and
example; and

WHEREAS, True citizenship is demonstrated not only through academic
success, but through a steadfast commitment to service, ethical
leadership, and an unwavering sense of responsibility toward others; and

WHEREAS, Michael Antonellis has exemplified these ideals through his
consistent demonstration of respect, accountability, and compassion,
reflecting the core values of engaged and responsible citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Michael Antonellis is an intelligent and motivated scholar,
student athlete, musician, and leader in his senior year at Farmingdale
High School in Farmingdale, New York; and

WHEREAS, At Farmingdale High School, Michael Antonellis has pushed
himself academically with his coursework, taking both Advanced Placement
courses and college-level courses, including Farmingdale's hardest math
course, AP Calculus BC; despite his heavy courseload, this remarkable
scholar has maintained a weighted GPA of 102.51; and

WHEREAS, Michael Antonellis' impressive academic record has earned
him membership in several honor societies, including National Honor
Society, Science National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, and French
Honor Society, where he serves as treasurer; and

WHEREAS, Outside of the classroom, Michael Antonellis has been an
athlete on Farmingdale High School's cross country and winter and spring
track teams since his freshman year; his love for running inspired him
to complete his first half marathon in 2025; and

WHEREAS, In addition to being a student athlete, Michael Antonellis
plays the trumpet and is a proud member of Farmingdale High School's
marching band, jazz band, wind ensemble, and pep band; as a strong

musician that his peers look up to, Michael Antonellis was selected to
serve as section leader for the trumpets in his marching band; and

WHEREAS, A proven leader and role model, this extraordinary young
man is being recognized not only for his academic and extracurricular
achievement, but also for the profound impact he has had on Farmingdale
High School and his local community; and

WHEREAS, Michael Antonellis has a passion for giving back to his
community, and he volunteers through programs with the National Honor
Society, the Varsity Leaders' Club, the Farmingdale Public Library, and
the New York State Retriever Rescue, where he fosters puppies for future
adoption; and

WHEREAS, Volunteering is a central part of Michael Antonellis'
story, and he has recorded over 100 hours of community service; and

WHEREAS, To gain real-world experience, Michael Antonellis has
worked at Bounce Family Entertainment Center in Syosset, New York, since
2025, where he ensures safety, manages events, and provides leadership
to party groups; and

WHEREAS, The experience that Michael Antonellis has gathered
throughout his time at Farmingdale High School has shaped him to be a
well-rounded and accomplished individual; his commitments and desire to
involve himself throughout his community has rightfully earned him the
New York State Citizenship Award; and

WHEREAS, As Michael Antonellis looks forward to his next chapter, he
hopes to study accounting; no matter where his path takes him, Michael
Antonellis is sure to continue fostering his leadership skills,
advancing his achievements, and making a difference in his community;
and

WHEREAS, His example affirms that responsible citizenship is a
lifelong endeavor, one that extends beyond the classroom and into every
aspect of personal and professional life; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and purposeful
determination, this scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in his
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by his teachers, mentors, and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Antonellis upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the New York State Citizenship Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael Antonellis.
