MOURNING the death of Joseph Belle, devoted family
patriarch, proud United States Navy veteran, and
beloved member of the community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished individuals whose lives of dedication,
service, and compassion enriched their families, communities, and the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Belle, a cherished patriarch, respected veteran, and
friend to many, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Mt. Kisco,
New York, at the age of 92; and

WHEREAS, Born on December 3, 1933, in Rosali, Italy, Joseph Belle
was the beloved son of Giuseppe and Fortunata Salzone Belle, both of
whom predeceased him; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Belle carried with him throughout his life a deep
pride in his Italian heritage and a lasting devotion to the values of
family, hard work, loyalty, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, After immigrating to the United States, Joseph Belle
embraced his adopted nation with gratitude and honorably served in the
United States Navy aboard the destroyer USS Ingersoll 652, exemplifying
patriotism and dedication to country; and

WHEREAS, Following his military service, Joseph Belle established a
long and respected career with A&P Supermarkets, where he served as a
Manager and Butcher and became known for his strong work ethic, friendly
nature, and genuine care for customers and colleagues alike; and

WHEREAS, Family remained the cornerstone of Joseph Belle's life, and
he was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Mary Galdo Belle,
whom he married in 1956; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Belle was a loving and dedicated father to Joseph
Belle III and his wife, Lois; Cathleen Quaglietta and her husband,
Richard; Daphne Belle and her companion, Ralph; Robert Belle and his
wife, Laura; and David Belle; and

WHEREAS, He took immense pride and joy in his grandchildren, Briana,
Ryan, Joseph, and Austin, treasuring the time spent with them and
creating lasting memories for generations of his family; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Belle was predeceased by his cherished daughter,
Doreen Belle, and by his siblings, Larry, Mario, Frank, Eddie, and Jenny
Belle; and

WHEREAS, Known for his warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit, Joseph
Belle found happiness in life's simple pleasures, including elaborate
holiday celebrations, family barbeques, cooking for loved ones, caring
for his beloved dogs, and enjoying the music of the 1950s from the
comfort of his porch; and


WHEREAS, Through his kindness, humor, hospitality, and unwavering
devotion to family and friends, Joseph Belle touched the lives of
countless individuals and became a beloved presence within his
community; and

WHEREAS, The life of Joseph Belle stands as a testament to the
enduring values of faith, family, service, and love, and his memory will
forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew
him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph Belle, honoring his exemplary life of military
service, professional dedication, and devotion to family and community,
and extending its deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph Belle.
