MOURNING the death of Jeffrey Wolf Fried,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Wolf Fried of Montrose, New York, died on Thursday,
January 22, 2026, at the age of 84; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 1, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late
Hyman Herman and Cynthia (nee Klein) Fried, Jeffrey Wolf Fried graduated
from Lehigh University in 1963, and proudly served his country in the
United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Wolf Fried distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Wolf Fried went on to earn his law degree from
Boston University Law School, beginning a life defined by dedication,
integrity, and care for others; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Wolf Fried's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, In 1966, Jeffrey Wolf Fried married the love of his life,
Elaine Y. Gribben, in New Rochelle, New York and together they built a
life grounded in love, family, and shared values; and

WHEREAS, A kind, caring, and warm person, Jeffrey Wolf Fried had a
deep love for animals, reading, history, and above all, he loved his
family and took great pride in their accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Wolf Fried is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine
Y. Fried; his loving children, Brandon Fried and Susie Adams and her
husband Michael; and his cherished grandson, Jake Adams; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jeffrey Wolf Fried leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Jeffrey Wolf Fried, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Jeffrey Wolf Fried.
