MOURNING the death of Ross M. Weale, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Ross M. Weale of South Salem, New York, died on Friday,
July 19th, 2024 at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Ross M. Weale was the only
child of Gilbert and Margery Weale; and

WHEREAS, Ross M. Weale went to primary school in Englewood and later
attended Trinity Pawling School in Pawling, New York; after graduating,
he went on to earn his BA from Nichols College and took several graduate
courses at Harvard Business School; and

WHEREAS, On September 8, 1962, Ross M. Weale married Carol Elizabeth
Bowen at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Wilton, Connecticut; and

WHEREAS, Ross M. Weale distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, After receiving his BA, Ross M. Weale entered The Bank of
New York's Executive Management Program where he served in several
senior management roles including as the President of a Bank of New York
subsidiary in Syracuse, New York and Regional President of the Bank of
New York's largest retail division, the County Trust Region of the Bank
of New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1985, Ross M. Weale co-founded Country Bank in Carmel,
New York; he finished his career serving as President of the Putnam
County Economic Development Corp; and

WHEREAS, Ross M. Weale's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Sharing his time, talent and experience, Ross M. Weale was
involved in many community organizations; he served as Council President
for the Westchester Putnam Boy Scouts of America, Trustee of Northern
Westchester Hospital Center, Chair of the Westchester Health Fund,
Director of ReliaStar/Voya Life Insurance Co., Chair of the New York
State Small Business Advisory Board during the Pataki Administration and
Chair of the Tompkins Mahopac Bank's Business Development Board; and

WHEREAS, Possessing an incredible zest for life, a unique sense of
humor and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures, Ross M. Weale
loved taking pictures, going on nightly cocktail cruises on Lake
Waccabuc, annual trips to Cape Cod, searching for treasures at Nauset

Beach, stopping for ice cream whenever possible, traveling the world
with Carol and good friends, skiing down a perfectly groomed
intermediate run, a great day on the golf course with friends, and
outstanding music supplied by Christopher Cross, The Kingston Trio,
Andre Bocelli, The Carpenters, The Corrs, Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Mathis
and local Pipe Major Jonathan Henken; and

WHEREAS, Ross M. Weale is predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and
Margery; and his beloved labradors - Cazenovia, Pita, Moryaka, Inge and
Damsel; he is survived by his children - Ross M. Weale, Jr. of Croton,
New York; and Sara E. Weale of Katonah, New York; his four
grandchildren, Matthew Weale, Olivia Weale, Charlie Rudge and Elizabeth
Rudge; and his cherished labradors Yumi, and Ember; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Ross M. Weale leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Ross M. Weale, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Ross M. Weale.
