MOURNING the death of George Grimes, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, George Grimes, of Peekskill, New York, died on April 24,
2026, at the age of 76; and

WHEREAS, George Grimes was born to Holbrook and Elsie Grimes in
Manhattan, New York, on December 2, 1949; he settled and raised his
children in Peekskill, building a life that was centered on family,
service, and community; and

WHEREAS, George Grimes was a proud United States Marine Corps
veteran who served as a machine gun squad leader in Company A, 1st
Battalion, Fifth Marines, during the Vietnam War; his bravery and
dedication were recognized with numerous honors, including the Combat
Action Ribbon, Bronze Star with Valor, and the Purple Heart; and

WHEREAS, Later, George Grimes worked as a nuclear officer at Indian
Point Energy Center, known for his strong work ethic, knowledge, and
dedication; he was also known for his quick wit and sense of humor, a
true jokester who could make anyone laugh; and

WHEREAS, George Grimes loved fishing, playing cards, and watching
the Giants with his family; he was always the life of the party,
creating memories that will be cherished forever and offering comfort
and strength through life's challenges; and

WHEREAS, A generous and selfless man, George Grimes was always there
to help others in times of need, never asking for anything in return; he
was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal
friend; and

WHEREAS, George Grimes is survived by his devoted and loving wife of
55 years, Margaret Rose Grimes; loving children, Kimberly and Kyle Knapp
and George-Ryan and Rebekah Grimes; and his cherished granddaughter,
Harper Jade Grimes; brother, James (Suzanne) Grimes; sister, Kathleen
Pascazi; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly; he was
predeceased by his sisters, Margaret (Thomas) Stephens and Nancy (Roger)
Loughlin; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of George Grimes and to honor his enduring legacy; he
will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of George Grimes.
