CONGRATULATING Coach Edward Curle upon the
occasion of being named the Section 1 Swimming and
Diving Coach of the Year by the National Federation
of State High School Associations

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play, and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
notable athletic coaches within our midst who serve the youth of this
great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves and their
communities through their exemplary athletic achievements and their
outstanding commitment to excellence; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Coach Edward Curle upon the occasion of being named the
Section 1 Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year by the National
Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS); and

WHEREAS, After being nominated by the New York State Public High
School Athletic Association, Coach Edward Curle was selected as the most
deserving recipient for his commitment to leading the sport, shaping his
athletes, and contributing to the community in a positive way; and

WHEREAS, Edward Curle was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, and
is an alumnus of Syracuse City School District; he attended Henninger
High School where he was a captain of the boy's swim team; and

WHEREAS, Edward Curle's career began in 1993, when he became a
lifeguard for the school district; he later became the aquatics
supervisor for the district; he has coached boys swimming for 18 years
and girls swimming for 14 years, undoubtedly acquiring the tools,
methods, and techniques need to foster greatness over the length of his
tenure, and has certainly earned the esteem and admiration of all his
colleagues and mentees; and

WHEREAS, With a career defined by excellence, Coach Edward Curle has
consistently demonstrated a commitment to developing not only skilled
athletes, but also well-rounded individuals; he has worked with youth of
all levels, ranging from non-swimmers to elite state ranked level
swimmers; and

WHEREAS, Coach Edward Curle's dedication to teaching and coaching
has transformed countless swimmers, helping them reach their full
potential in and out of the pool; through hard work, mentorship, and an
unrelenting pursuit of success, he has built a culture of discipline,
perseverance, respect, and teamwork; and

WHEREAS, In addition to this prestigious accolade, Coach Edward
Curle has won NYSAHPERD Central North Zone Aquatics Teacher of the Year,
Section 3 Girls Swimming Class A Coach of the Year, Section 3 Class A

Boys Coach of the Year, and Nottingham Athletics Coach of the Year;
these awards and special designations are a testament to his profound
coaching abilities, overall respect from the athletic community, and
grounded professionalism; and

WHEREAS, Coach Edward Curle's positive attitude, selfless
commitment, goal-oriented and balanced approach to instruction, in
addition to his genuine concern for his athletes, have contributed to
his enduring success as a coach, earning him the respect of his
community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and achievements are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Coach Edward Curle upon the occasion of being named the
Section 1 Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Coach Edward Curle.
