COMMEMORATING the 30th Anniversary of the Great
Neck Chinese Association on March 21, 2025

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to the cultural heritage of the ethnic groups which
comprise and contribute to the richness and diversity of the community
of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Great Neck Chinese Association
to be celebrated with a Gala on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Leonard's
Palazzo in Great Neck, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Great Neck Chinese Association (GNCA), founded in 1995,
is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Great Neck Chinese
community; and

WHEREAS, Guided by the mission acronym "HAPPY," the Great Neck
Chinese Association strives to create a harmonious environment for its
members and the broader community; the mission includes helping new
Chinese residents integrate into the Great Neck community, advocating
for the common good of members, promoting cultural understanding,
fostering social involvement, and ultimately yielding a peaceful and
happy living environment for all; and

WHEREAS, To achieve these goals, the Great Neck Chinese Association
engages in various activities that support its mission; the organization
works closely with local schools and community leaders to promote better
understanding and acceptance of Chinese culture and residents; it hosts
social and recreational activities to bring the community together,
organizes cultural exchange events with other communities, and
encourages members to participate in community services and social
involvement; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, the Great Neck Chinese Association offers a
platform for members to network, exchange ideas, and engage with local
leaders on issues important to the organization; and

WHEREAS, As the Great Neck Chinese Association celebrates its 30th
Anniversary, it reflects on three decades of positive impact in Great
Neck, made possible by the dedication of its members and volunteers;
while proud of its past achievements, the organization looks toward the
future with optimism, welcoming all Great Neck residents and their
families to join, volunteer, and support its ongoing efforts to build a
thriving and inclusive community; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to recognize such organizations of significance which foster ethnic
pride and exemplify the cultural diversity that represents and
strengthens the fabric of the people and the State of New York; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Great Neck Chinese Association;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Great Neck Chinese Association.
