MOURNING the untimely death of Sarah Jean
McAllister, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister,
cousin, niece and friend

WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of Sarah Jean McAllister, an extraordinary
young woman of indomitable faith and dedication whose short, yet
purposeful life will long serve as a standard to which others might
aspire; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Jean McAllister of Dover, New York, died on Thursday,
February 27, 2025, at the age of 18; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Jean McAllister was born on November 13, 2006, to her
adoring parents, Joseph Pyre McAllister and Kathy Slavin-Rothstein; and

WHEREAS, In the 18 years she graced this earth, Sarah Jean
McAllister touched the lives of everyone she met; she had a deep love
for children and animals and found peace in art and music; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Jean McAllister was preparing to graduate Hendrick
Hudson High School this year and aspired to become a social worker; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Kevin Slavin,
Sarah Jean McAllister is survived by her loving parents: her mother
Kathy and stepfather Josh, along with her stepsister Haylee; her father
Joseph and stepmother Jennifer, along with her stepbrother JD; she also
leaves behind her cherished siblings, Joey and Julie; her maternal
grandmother, Jean Slavin; and her paternal grandparents, Sarah and
Thomas McAllister; Sarah was a beloved niece to her Aunt Diane and Uncle
Diego, Uncle Michael and Aunt Amanda, Uncle Anthony, and Uncle Kevin;
she was also a dear cousin to Dillon, Genevieve, Derek, and Sebastian;
and

WHEREAS, Sarah Jean McAllister's infinite selflessness and kindness
will shine on through her family's vivid and happy memories; her insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives she touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Sarah Jean McAllister leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing young woman;
she will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Sarah Jean McAllister, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sarah Jean McAllister.
