LEGISLATIVE RESOLULTION commemorating the 100th
Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Geneseo, New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
celebrate significant milestones of organizations that contribute to the
well-being of their communities and make a lasting impact on society;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Geneseo, New
York; and

WHEREAS, The world's first service club, Rotary International, was
founded on February 23, 1905, when Paul Harris, a native of Vermont,
found himself a stranger in Chicago; he conceived of the idea of
inviting three men of different vocations to join him weekly for
fellowship and to discuss each other's problems and business; and

WHEREAS, Today, Rotary International has grown into an organization
including over 1.2 million members in approximately 29,000 clubs across
the 163 countries; each club is made up of professionals and business
leaders who are dedicated to humanitarian service, encourage high
ethical standards in all vocations, and to help build peace and goodwill
throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Geneseo, New York was founded on April
2, 2025, and has been a driving force in fostering civic responsibility,
promoting humanitarian service, and enhancing the quality of life in the
community; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, members of the Rotary Club of Geneseo
have worked tirelessly to support various charitable projects, service
initiatives, and community development efforts in Livingston County and
beyond, embodying the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self"; and

WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Geneseo has provided educational
scholarships, organized local food drives, assisted in public health
initiatives, supported youth programs, and improved public
infrastructure in ways that have had a positive and far-reaching impact
on local residents; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Rotary Club of Geneseo have exemplified
the true spirit of volunteerism and community service, providing a model
of dedication and leadership for others to follow; and

WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Geneseo is an integral part of the
global Rotary organization whose efforts in fighting diseases,
supporting education, and promoting peace and goodwill throughout the
world continue to inspire individuals and groups to engage in acts of
kindness and compassion; and

WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Geneseo has made invaluable
contributions to local communities through service projects, fundraising
events, and countless volunteer hours, benefiting all members of the
community, particularly those in need; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body acknowledges the Rotary Club of the
Town of Geneseo for its remarkable contributions to the quality of life
in the region and expresses its appreciation for steadfast commitment to
the people it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend the Rotary Club
of the Town of Geneseo for its ongoing legacy of service, its
contributions to the betterment of society, and the remarkable 100 years
of accomplishments it has achieved to date; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Geneseo, New
York, and to commend its members for their remarkable service to the
community and the greater good; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Rotary Club of Geneseo, New York.
