COMMEMORATING the 171st Anniversary of the First
Baptist Church of Bronxville, New York

WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social, and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and

WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 171st Anniversary of the First Baptist Church of
Bronxville, New York, to be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025; and

WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church of Bronxville, New York, has been
a beacon of faith, hope, and service since its founding in 1854,
standing as a welcoming house of worship that embraces individuals from
diverse cultural and racial backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church has been steadfast in its
commitment to spiritual growth, community service, and the teachings of
Jesus Christ, demonstrating unwavering dedication to uplifting
individuals and families; and

WHEREAS, Guided by this year's powerful theme, "Thrive in 25", and
inspired by Joshua 1:9, the First Baptist Church continues to stand firm
in faith, courage, and service; and

WHEREAS, With a deep commitment to reaching all people, fostering
fellowship, and glorifying God, the First Baptist Church remains a
pillar of hope and transformation in the community; as we celebrate this
historic anniversary, we honor its rich legacy, unwavering mission, and
the countless lives touched by its ministry; and

WHEREAS, Today, under the luminous direction of Reverend Lamont S.
Granby, the First Baptist Church of Bronxville stands on the threshold
of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades,
while retaining that spiritual resolve which has so characterized its
glorious past; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 171st Anniversary of the First Baptist Church of
Bronxville, New York, confident that this commemoration reflects the
belief in those values which enhance the dignity and purpose of life;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Lamont S. Granby, Pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Bronxville, New York.
